About Granville Community Kitchen:

Granville Community Kitchen is a community centred initiative developing a food hub to enable the South Kilburn community to access healthy, affordable and sustainable food through a variety of food related activities. The organisation teaches good food cookery and food growing skills, produces locally grown produce used to provide low cost and free community meals, promotes health and wellbeing and community cohesion, and has a weekly economically accessible veg box scheme, the Good Food Box. The Granville Community Garden hosts regular open gardening sessions with an experienced gardener during the week, and we have just opened a new community garden space behind the centre.

This is an exciting time for our Community Garden and kitchen for a number of reasons. With the development of our radical Good Food Box, we are aiming to remove access barriers for healthy, nutritious and sustainable food. We are currently providing hyper local produce, including culturally relevant food, from our Garden and allotment to go into our veg shares.

Overview of the Weekend Community Grower Role:

As our Weekend-Community Grower you will be responsible for running weekend volunteer gardening sessions 11am-2pm throughout the growing season, at our new site, Granville Rec. This is a new space that we have just started working on and which we want to develop over the year, inviting the community in to enjoy the green space and open air, learn about food growing and contribute to the space.

A key part of the Community Grower’s role is to help our gardens be community spaces by running volunteer sessions and co-organising teaching sessions. We are looking for an individual who has both a passion for, and minimum 2 years experience of, working in community based projects and with edible plants.
